We are searching for our next Behaviour Support Practitioner to work with NDIS participants in and around the Norther Gold Coast region in a community based setting.
Whilst previous experience working as a BSP is an advantage, we are happy to consider those who have experience working in the disability sector, or have an understanding of the NDIS.
Alternatively, you may be nearing the end of your Psychology or Social Work degree, but are unsure what to do next. Working as a Behaviour Support Practitioner will see you working with adults and children with disabilities and challenging behaviours, BUT you will also working directly with the participants stakeholder and support team.
Responsibilities will include:
- Assisting NDIS participants, along with their families and/or carers, to identify their needs through assessment and person-centered planning
- Evaluating, developing and delivering evidence-based support plans within a complex support space
- Developing meaningful goals and practical strategies utilising a positive behaviour support framework, and with a commitment to eliminate restrictive practices, in the home and community
- Ensuring individual plans reflect our NDIS participants' goals, passions and strengths, as well as ensuring they get more out of life
- Building the knowledge, capacity and strengths of those who support participants in their lives - family, carers, friends, etc
- Acting as an advocate and role model for best practice
- Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
